The Tokyo Olympic torch relay will begin on the 3rd in Gifu Prefecture, the first in the Tokai and Hokuriku regions.

Measures against the infection of the new coronavirus will be taken, such as calling for the spectators along the road to not be crowded.

The Tokyo Olympic torch relay, which started in Fukushima Prefecture on the 25th of last month, will be handed over from Nagano Prefecture to Gifu Prefecture, and will visit 11 cities and towns in Gifu Prefecture for two days on the 3rd and 4th.

By prefecture, it is the fifth overall, and the first in the Tokai and Hokuriku regions.

On the 3rd of the first day, we will start Magome-juku in Nakatsugawa City, which retains the remnants of the post town of the Edo period, and in Takayama City, we will run through the old townscape that retains the atmosphere of the Edo period.

In Gifu Prefecture, the government's "state of emergency" was lifted at the end of February, but the number of newly infected people is increasing, and mutation virus infections have been confirmed one after another.

The Games Organizing Committee and the Gifu Prefecture Executive Committee are calling for people to wear masks along the road, applaud, and watch the torch relay live on the Internet as a countermeasure against infection.

On top of that, the relay may be interrupted if excessive congestion occurs.
