Friday became a day of rest at the Russian Biathlon Championship.

At the same time, a coaching council of the RBU was held in Khanty-Mansiysk, within the framework of which a number of key decisions were expected to be made.

The agenda included 16 items, including reports on the preparation and performance of the national teams and a discussion of an expanded list of candidates for national teams.

The performance of the main and reserve teams was considered satisfactory.

Only when voting on the women's team, which did not win a single medal in the World Cup and the world championship in individual races, two out of 57 people did not agree with this verdict.

But the reserve team was rated “unsatisfactory”.

At the same time, in the past season, the junior and youth teams took part in only one international tournament - the championship of the planet in Austria.

There Denis Irodov won three gold medals among young men (under 19 years old).

The results of juniors (under 21 years old) turned out to be much more modest - two bronzes of Mikhail Pervushin.

The expanded composition of the men's and women's national teams of Russia for the Olympic season also aroused considerable interest from the fans.

Each of them got 24 people.

In general, there were no surprises.

However, among men, for example, the world champion Maxim Tsvetkov returned to the roster, who last started in the KM race two years ago.

But a successful performance at the national championship (silver in the sprint and bronze in the pursuit race) made the coaching staff pay attention to the athlete.

For women, in addition to Ekaterina Yurlova-Perkht and Kristina Reztsova, who went on maternity leave before the start of last season, the main sensation of the Chechen Republic, Natalia Ushkina, was included in the list.

The 24-year-old biathlete preparing for the transfer to the Romanian national team in Khanty-Mansiysk became the second in the sprint and the first in the pursuit.

Apparently, now the RBU does not intend to let the talented athlete go so easily.

For example, the senior coach of the Russian national team, Mikhail Shashilov, emphasized that Ushkina “is not going anywhere yet”.

“Actually, I am not competent to answer such questions.

This is the business of the RBU and the leadership.

My job is to include her in the team, and then let them decide for themselves: whether to take her or not, stay in Russia or run for Romania ... ", - said the Metaratings specialist.

In turn, President of the RBU Viktor Maygurov doubted that the IBU would, in principle, allow Natalia to play for Romania.

“Taking into account the current rules of the International Biathlon Union, it will be very difficult to coordinate the transition from one country to another.

She understands that in another country, with not very great competition, she has much more chances to participate in competitions of the highest level, "- quotes the TASS functionary.

Ushkina herself, during the Chechen Republic, emphasized that in any case she intends to go to the end and continue to play for Romania, and the RBU, allegedly, did not make any proposals to her.

In this case, the final composition of the teams will be formed when all biathletes undergo an in-depth medical examination.

Another important decision that was made at the SBR coaching council was the further fate of Shashilov and the mentor of the men's national team, Yuri Kaminsky.

Based on the fact that the ended international season was not very successful for domestic biathletes, it was likely that they would lose their positions.

However, the delegates considered it inappropriate to part with both specialists less than a year before the Olympic Games in Beijing.

“Kaminsky and Shashilov will continue to work as senior coaches of the national team.

There may be changes in the composition of their assistants, ”Maygurov emphasized.

Also, in the near future, another important point will be discussed - the self-training of the leaders of the men's team Alexander Loginov and Matvey Eliseev.

Both of the last years have been preparing for the season on their own under the guidance of their own mentors.

But the extremely weak results of both may force the RBU to reconsider its attitude to this issue.

According to Kaminsky, the final decision will be made in mid-April.

“They ask me for these athletes and they are doing the right thing, since I am the head coach.

Otherwise, I need to resign and be called, for example, a reserve coach.

But it so happened that both leaders were outside the team.

With Karim Khalili, we were still in control of the situation, since we were in contact with his coach Yegor Sorin, ”the specialist emphasized.

According to Kaminsky, if Loginov and Eliseev go to self-training again, “a team must be created around them” so that biathletes have the opportunity to work fully.

“If he is an experienced coach, he can combine shooting training with functional training.

And so it should be two people.

There must be a massage therapist, other specialists.

That is, it should be a separate group, which is what is meant by the word “team,” the coach emphasized.
