Växjö already secured the series victory in the last round and therefore had nothing to play for.

On the whole, the match felt rejected and the fighting moments loose with his absence.

No wonder perhaps as none of the teams wanted to risk incurring any injuries before the playoffs.

Goal on penalty

Frölunda took the initiative early in the match but the first goal would be delayed until the end of the period when Jan Mursak was pulled down just when he was to finish against Fasth in the Växjö goal.

Punishment was blown.

Theodor Niederbach got the chance to put the penalty kick and made no mistakes but could nicely put in 1-0 behind Fasth.

- All right from our side.

It's good when we get long attacks on them, but at the same time we have to be part of their game turns, goal scorer Theodor Niederbach tells C More.

Växjö took over more and more of the game in the second period and also created more chances than the home team, but they did not manage to find the net behind Johan Mattsson.

Instead, the away team saw Anders Grönlund make 2-0 to Frölunda in powerplay.

2-0 was also the result when the team went into period break.

Växjö dominant

In the third period, it was more or less just Växjö.

Smålanders were from the start and also managed to get a quick reduction through Andrew Calof.

Växjö continued to own the third period at one point, they led the shots in the period with 14-0 (eventually 18-1 in the period) - but they had not managed to score any more goals.

With one and a half minutes left, the away team took out the goalkeeper in search of a draw, but despite Frölunda drawing an expulsion, the numbers remained 2-1 to the home team.

Thus, Frölunda secured seventh place and will most likely face Djurgården in the round of 16.
