387 reports of sexual violence in sport in one year

In one year, the cell of the Ministry of Sports received reports from half of the sports federations -

The first figures of the listening cell on sexual violence in sport, revealed this Friday by Franceinfo, show 387 reports in one year from half of the sports federations.

The cell was set up in February 2020 following the revelations of Sarah Abitbol.

According to these same figures, 96% of abusers are men, as opposed to victims, 83% of whom are women.

In 90% of cases, the facts relate to sexual assault.

"Sometimes awareness remains a dead letter, but this time there is a real awareness, a real desire to change things", explains to France Info Laurent Boyet, president of the Butterflies, one of the associations approved by the Ministry of Sports and responsible for helping federations to set up prevention plans.

Laurent Boyet indicates that he has been contacted by 224 clubs since September.
