The union introduced the stop in early March and extended it at the end of the month by two weeks until April 11.

The spread of EHV-1 infection, also known as the abortion virus, started during an equestrian competition in Valencia, Spain in February.

Several horses died and a large number were infected and were therefore kept at the competition site.

The International Equestrian Federation also introduced a competition ban which, among other things, resulted in the World Cup final at the Gothenburg Horse Show, which should have been decided from March 31 to April 4, being canceled.

The Swedish Equestrian Federation announces on its website that the Swedish Veterinary Medical Institute has made the assessment that the infection situation in Sweden is on a par with previous years and that operations can be kept going.

- We will look at the temporary regulations from the International Equestrian Federation (FEI), how it is designed and what instructions we can give to our organizers and riders, says Ulf Brömster, chairman of the Swedish Equestrian Federation in a press release.
