The Japan Sumo Association's financial results for the second year of Reiwa last year were in the red of about 5 billion yen due to the decrease in sales of admission tickets due to the cancellation of this place due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection.

According to the Sumo Association, the deficit is the largest ever in six years.

The Japan Sumo Association held a board of councilors in Tokyo on the 29th and approved the financial results for the year ending December last year.

According to the Sumo Association, ordinary income for the last year was about 6 billion yen, a decrease of 6.3 billion yen from the previous year.

Last year, due to the spread of the infection, the spring place was held without spectators, the summer place was canceled, and the number of spectators at the main place after the July place at the Kokugikan in Tokyo and Ryogoku was the maximum. Since it was held in about half, the sales of admission tickets decreased and the income decreased significantly.

On the other hand, ordinary expenses were about 11 billion yen, which is about 1 billion yen less than the previous year.

As a result, the balance for the last year was a deficit of about 5 billion yen.

According to the Sumo Association, the deficit is the largest ever in six years since 2014.

The Japan Sumo Association said, "Holding this place is the main force of the association, and if it can not be done, a big deficit will occur. It is expected that the total assets will decrease by about 10 billion yen in the three years from last year. After that, it will turn into the black. We are planning to do it. "
