All baseball textbooks in the world are made with the same drawing.

There are catchers and pitchers in the center of the ground, first base, second base, right field on the right, shortstop, third base, and left field on the left.

Whether it was 100 years ago, 150 years ago, Western or Eastern, it was common sense that defenders should be in this position.

So even in the baseball game ahead, the defender dolls will be standing there.

However, these scenes that we once called'normal defense' are gradually disappearing.

There are four defenders standing between first and second base, or four or five in the outfield.

Unusual scenes that we have not previously imagined are becoming more and more popular.

Why did our common sense of left-right symmetry break?

Traditional defense presupposed that the batter didn't know where the ball would fall.

It was assumed that it was natural to spread it as wide as possible to close the gaps.

However, in the 2000s, we started measuring hitters' batting pitches in the major leagues.

When I gathered data such as where and how fast it flies, it was confirmed that almost all hitters' strong hits are focused on the pulling side, namely, right-handed hitters are focused on the left and left-handed hitters are focused on the right.

Even if the shape is a little odd, it is concluded that it is a business that leaves a'shift', which is an arrangement that defends by pushing it to one side instead of spreading it in a fan shape.

Several clubs started experimenting.

As the effectiveness proved, other clubs began to follow suit.

So, the number of times increased and more and more drastic shifts emerged.

Last year, Hanwha was the last Korean professional baseball player.

In fact, in the past 12 years, it has been the grave of many famous masters, having been in the last six times, so I changed the manager again this year, and the history of this new director is interesting.

Coach Carlos Subero has been coaching defensive positions for Major League Milwaukee since 2016.

In other words, he was one of the best shift experts in the world.

Director Subero has contributed to actively using shifts in Korea.

And we are moving from practice to practice.

Fans are enthusiastic by directing daily scenes in which the second baseman placed in front of the center fielder clears the hits while driving the defense to one side.

Although the start is later than in the US, the effect of the shift may be much greater in Korea.

American baseball has a lot more home runs and strikeouts than Korea.

Home runs and strikeouts do not require defenders to defend.

In other words, Korean defenders have to defend far more than the United States.

If the shift works, Korea has a lot more chances of it.

Shift is a revolution that breaks over 100 years of stereotypes about baseball.

And this revolution may even overturn the game of Korean baseball.
