National team-qualified striker Rhali Dobson's departure from football was memorable.

The 28-year-old is quitting his career to spend more time with his future husband Matt Stonham.

Because he has been diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor for which he has had surgery.

- In May, he will start chemotherapy for twelve months, says Rhali Dobson.

In the last match for Melbourne City, she scored the opening goal in the 2-1 victory against Perth.

She was replaced with a quarter left to play, and since Australia has an audience in the stands, she was hailed by it.

Then after the final signal, she ran to friends and family at the sideline and hugged those who were pointing at the pitch.

Because there was partner Matt.

"He is my whole world"

A moment into the hug he asked her to turn around and look at the screen, then Matt took out the ring and went down on one knee.

Matt proposed, the tears flowed while she said yes.

And then the teammates joined in a giant hug.

- This is bigger than sports, he is my whole world, says Rhali Dobson.

During his career, the Australian domestic league won three times with Melbourne City, and made an international appearance for Australia in 2014.
