Nikolai Majorov made a stable World Cup debut during the men's short program at the Figure Skating World Championships in the Globe.

He broke a new personal record with a score of 75.59 - and took third place among the ten who completed their program.

At worst, Majorov needs to be 24th out of the 33 who compete in the qualifiers to reach the final.

The hand in the ice on the triple shoulder grieved him afterwards, and he was generally quite dissatisfied with his efforts.

- If you really want to secure a good final place, you need to do it with 99 percent with my support.

I get a little worried that it may have cost me a point or two, says Nikolai Majorov to SVT sport.

- I am happy that I stood on my feet, but a more stable landing on my shoulder would have made me more satisfied, he continues to SVT.

The qualifier is in progress, and later this afternoon Nikolai Majorov will know for sure if he will reach the final on Saturday.
