The Verontina coach resigns after taking over the job 4 months

Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli announced his resignation from coaching his team, four months after his appointment as head of the coaching staff.

"In recent months, I have grown a shadow in me that has changed my way of seeing things," the coach said in a message posted by the club on its official page today.

He added, "I came here to give 100 percent, but as soon as I felt that things were no longer possible, and for everyone's benefit, I decided to back down."

He continued, "I know that my coaching career may stop here, but I do not regret it and it is not possible for me to do that."

Fiorentina had announced earlier in a statement that the 63-year-old had "submitted his resignation to the club's management."

"It is with great regret that the club agreed to the coach's request and understands the reasons that are beyond football," the club added.

Immediately after the announcement of the resignation, local media reported the possibility of the return of the predecessor Giuseppe Yacini, who was succeeded by Prandelli, on November 9, 2020, to the "Artemio Franchi" stadium.

Prandelli had returned to the "Viola" club after he had previously supervised it between 2005 and 2010, and led him to the semi-finals of the European Cup competition (now the Europa League) in 2008, and to the 16th round of the UEFA Champions League in 2010. But since he received it. His duties again, the results deteriorated and Fiorentina slipped two places to finish fourteenth, seven points ahead of the relegation zone after losing to Milan 2-3 last week.

Prandelli left Fiorentina for the first time in order to take over the coaching of the national team, with the utter failure that accompanied the exit from the group stage of the 2010 World Cup finals, before leading the "Atsuri" to the Euro 2012 final, which they lost to Spain 0-4.

Two years later, he gave up his duties after the national team was knocked out again from the group stage of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, before moving between Turkish clubs Galatasaray, Valencia, Spain, the Emirati victory and Genoa.
