30-year-old Daniela Zamora has signed a contract that extends to December 31, 2022.
Djurgården has been interested in the offensive player for some time and she most recently came from the Chilean club Universidad de Chile where she was captain.
- I have played out on the edge lately but I also like to get in centrally towards goals.
As soon as I get close to the goal, I always have the opportunity to shoot or provide assistance.
Then I have a style of play where I run a lot and when I'm in the box I try to contribute points and make a difference, she says to the club's website.
A right-hander and captain - in other words, there are some similarities with Olivia Schough who left Djurgården after last season when she was named the Damallsvenskan's MVP.
Zamora has also chosen Schough's number 22.
- If you look at classic references, you usually talk about "eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth".
In this case, we say "number 22 for number 22, MVP for MVP".
Maybe we can also spice it up with this year's shooting queen as right rider.
So the expectations are high on her and Daniela puts just as high expectations on herself because she chooses jersey number 22, says sports director Jean Balawo.
Zamora was named the Chilean league's best player in 2020, won the shooting league as a right-hander on twelve goals and has played 37 A-national matches.
