The final sprint is on.

Who will be the 24 teams to play CAN-2021 in Cameroon, postponed to 2022 due to Covid-19?

Start of response with the 5th qualifying day, which begins Wednesday March 24.

In addition to Cameroon, the organizing country, some great African have already composted their ticket: Algeria, title holder, Senegal, Tunisia and Mali.

This final session, with the 6th day this weekend, was marked by the tough negotiations to release the many internationals in Europe, due to the measures to fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

Guinea coach Didier Six, for example, negotiated with Liverpool to dispose of their leader, Naby Keita, in his first match on Wednesday against Mali.

On the ground, a single point is enough in Morocco, in Mauritania, as for Egypt, holder of the record of victories (with seven CAN), in Kenya.

The same for the Comoros, where the whole archipelago has been vibrating for days to the rhythm of its "Coelacanths": a point against Togo, or even a defeat for Kenya, which plays out a little later, would sign a historic feat.

2 dates, 2 matches, 1 qualification!

The Coelacanths will face Togo 🇹🇬 in Malouzini on March 25, then move on March 29, 2021 to Cairo, against Egypt 🇪🇬 as part of the 5th and 6th days of the qualifiers of the # can2022 #Veripiya pic. twitter.com/1mDEunlCjg

It takes another victory for Côte d'Ivoire, Niamey against Niger, to qualify, but beware, a misstep by the "Elephants" would put them in danger in a tight group.

Same goal for the "Super Eagles" of Nigeria, qualified if they win in Benin.

The situation is tighter in the other groups, in particular the A, after the disqualification of Chad, sanctioned because the government dissolved the Federation there.

Its last two matches are given lost by forfeit, which forces Guinea to beat Mali to qualify.

Otherwise, we will have to bring back at least one point from Namibia in the last match.

In Group C, three countries are competing for two tickets.

Ghana and South Africa (9 points) clash, Sudan receives Sao Tome and Principe, who have lost all their matches and can therefore come back on the heels of a possible loser of the leaders' duel, or get closer of both in the event of a draw.

Finally, a home win over Tanzania would qualify Equatorial Guinea.
