Elgin Baylor

, one of the best players in the history of the NBA's Los Angeles Lakers, died on Monday at age 86, the franchise reported.

The former player "died of natural causes today in Los Angeles at the age of 86," the Los Angeles team said in a statement.

Baylor is among the big stars of the NBA who never got a ring, despite the fact that he played eight Finals.

The former player played for 14 seasons in the Lakers, first in Minneapolis and later in Los Angeles after the transfer of the franchise, and was chosen 11 times for the All-Star Game.
