The national handball team will only play two Olympic qualifiers, against the host nation Spain and Argentina, next weekend after Senegal withdrew from the qualifiers due to the corona pandemic.
The two best teams go to the Olympics.
All Swedish players are healthy before departure.
However, assistant league captain Johanna Wiberg has tested positive for covid-19.
- I have only had mild symptoms, but it is of course out of the question to go under the prevailing circumstances.
However, I will be able to participate from a distance and I am sure that the players and other leaders on site will solve it gallantly, Wiberg says in a press release.
Jesper Östlund, who coaches IF Hallby, has been called in as a replacement next to national team captain Tomas Axnér.
- We have previously worked together with one of the U-national teams, so we know each other well and I feel safe with this solution, says Axnér.
