Winnipeg started the scoring in the second period via Mason Appleton, but Toronto came back and equalized via Jake Muzzin, before William Nylander became the goal scorer for the second game in a row.

The Toronto Swede looked to turn up the body for a pass, but then threw away the puck, which went in via the goalkeeper.

The goal was Nylanders twelfth of the season, but did not help much when Winnipeg put in another gear.

Before the period was over, Paul Stasny had equalized, and just under eight minutes into the third, Adam Lowry gave the visitors the lead.

"Do not be sharpened"

Toronto pressed for a new equalizer, but three expulsions during the period were costly for the home team.

First, the lead was extended to 4-2, and when Winnipeg then had to play five against three, the nail was put in the coffin with the 5-2 goal.

Toronto has had problems against Winnipeg.

In the three games played in a row, Winnipeg has won two, and in the one where Toronto won well, it was by extension.

Toronto coach Sheldon Keefe was disappointed with the new loss - where he did not think anyone on his team played very well.

- Today we simply did not have a good match.

We were not sharpened mentally or physically, we did not get our game started, he says.

Rangers got revenge

In Boston, the New York Rangers got revenge, when they defeated Boston with 4-0, the same numbers that the Rangers lost to Boston as late as last Friday night (Swedish time).

Artemij Panarin was back on the ice for the Rangers, after missing nine games.

- It was great for us to get him back, not only for the game, but also for (the feeling) in the locker room, says Mika Zibanejad, who accounted for two assists, after the match.

The New York Rangers are currently out of the playoffs.

Zibanejad does not dare to say whether the 4-0 victory gives hope that the playoffs can be in sight.

- We enjoy this today, and get ready for the next match.

We can not look ahead, we must improve what we can and do what we did well today, he says.
