WELT AM SONNTAG:

You joined BVB in 1978 as a youth player, turned professional in 1981 and became sports director in 1998.

Do you have any idea what would have happened to Michael Zorc if Borussia Dortmund hadn't existed?

Michael Zorc:

Good question.

As a child, I had the dream of becoming a geography teacher.

That was my passion.

But I think it was a good thing that things turned out differently.

Also for the students.

WELT AM SONNTAG:

In your 23 years as sports director at BVB, have you ever seen a striker who is as good as Erling Haaland at just 20 years old?

Zorc:

No, absolutely not.

But we can also search all over Europe.

It will be difficult to find someone at this age who is as consistently performing and as effective as Erling.

At 20, he has more goals in the Champions League than Ronaldo and Messi of the same age.

That’s extraordinary.
