An advance that melts, that melts… Each weekend that passes increases the tension around Alexis Pinturault in his quest for the big crystal globe.

While the French skier had a 277 point lead at the end of January in the overall World Cup standings, he only has 31 left this Saturday after the giant slalom at Kranjska Gora.

It must be said that his rival, the Swiss Marco Odermatt, is on fire at the end of the season.

It was he who won again today, despite a somewhat failed first round.

But he did a real magic trick in the second round, pushing all his opponents to more than a second.

"A little fed up"

Pinturault was unable to keep his 2nd place.

Without making a big mistake, he failed just two hundredths from 3rd place and 5 hundredths from 2nd place, dust of time which cost him dearly (he scores 50 points, 2nd in scores 80).

"It's a hammer blow, I'm starting to get a little fed up with these hundredths falling on the wrong side, reacted the combined silver medalist at the last Worlds.

Here I am 4th, and within 5 hundredths I would have been 2nd, and it's far from the first time.

I really have to find a way to turn the tide.

I lose a lot of time in the second round but we are all losing a lot of time against Marco.

We will have to try to understand what happened, I have no immediate response.

"

The slalom to start again

A little dejected, he nevertheless keeps his hand for the big globe.

This Sunday, already, he has the opportunity to get some fresh air on the slalom, which the Swiss do not compete.

There will then remain four high pressure races next week at Lenzerheide in Switzerland (a downhill, a super-G, a giant, a slalom) to become the first Frenchman to win the big crystal globe since Luc Alphand in 1997.

“I was already expecting a lot from the slalom tomorrow, it will be important.

We will have to try as much as possible to continue in the regularity, said Pinturault.

Tomorrow promises to be a difficult day (heavy snowfall is expected) where we will have to try to lose little energy before next week.
