“We have the Vendée Globe in Vendée, we now have the Solitaire du Figaro in Loire-Atlantique”, rejoices Christelle Morancais, president of the Pays-de-la-Loire region.

This Thursday, the organizers unveiled the route of the 52nd edition, which will take place from August 22 to September 16 and which will include four stages starting from Saint-Nazaire, Lorient, Fécamp and the bay of Morlaix.

Who will succeed Armel Le Cléac'h, title holder in 2020 and three-time winner of the Solitaire du Figaro?

Next summer, the skippers will have to cover a route of nearly 2,500 miles (4,630 km) across the Bay of Biscay, along the Breton and then English coasts before bypassing the Fastnet lighthouse in Ireland and returning to Saint-Nazaire .

Only French cities concerned

Departure and arrival in Saint-Nazaire, nothing very surprising.

Indeed, the Loire-Atlantique department has indeed committed in 2020 to become a major partner of the race until 2026 and to welcome each big start and final finish of the offshore race.

"This 2021 edition only concerns French cities given the health situation which remains what it is, but the course is finally built as if it included foreign stopovers", explained the race director, Francis Le Goff. .
