Fredi Bobic can only leave Eintracht Frankfurt early in the summer for a million dollar transfer.

The supervisory board of the Hessian Bundesliga club does not want to let the sports director go free of charge and refused the 49-year-old Wednesday the early termination of his contract at the end of the season.

This could turn the case around after Bobic had already announced his departure in the summer the previous week.

There was recently speculation about a move to Hertha BSC.

The committee had pointed out to Bobic that "his management contract will run until June 30, 2023 without any possibility of termination or exit," said Eintracht Wednesday evening after the eagerly anticipated supervisory board meeting (it lasted five hours).

Bobic had confirmed this and declared that "he will behave in accordance with the contract and will accordingly comply with his contract".

According to information from "BILD", the Frankfurters insist on a five million euro transfer fee.

Authorized representative for negotiations

This means that a change of the former professional is not finally off the table.

The chairman of the supervisory board, Philip Holzer, was unanimously authorized by the committee to “negotiate the conditions for an early termination of Fredi Bobic's management contract” if another club were interested in an obligation of the Frankfurt sports board.

From Hertha?

The Berliners are looking for the separation from manager Michael Preetz, but have not yet approached the league rivals.

For Bobic it would be a professional return to his place of residence.

Since his time as a Hertha striker from 2003 to 2005, he has lived with his family in the capital.

According to "SPORT BILD", Bobic could earn twice as much at Hertha as he did in Frankfurt and, with 3.2 million euros, could become the top-earning manager in the Bundesliga.

It is said that Eintracht is already looking for a successor to Bobic.

In his tenure so far with Eintracht, Bobic celebrated great successes.

In 2018, Hessen won the DFB Cup in the final against FC Bayern Munich, and in 2019 they reached the semi-finals of the Europa League.

The team of coach Adi Hütter is currently in fourth place in the Bundesliga, which would entitle them to participate in the Champions League for the first time.

In addition, the former striker showed a good sense of the squad composition.

Bobic brought affordable players and talents such as Ante Rebic, Sébastien Haller and Luka Jovic to the Main, with whom Eintracht caused a sensation and achieved a three-digit million euro amount on sales.
