Is confinement in the Alpes-Maritimes exceptionally going to upset the end of Paris-Nice?

The LR mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, is indeed calling for a modification of the arrival of the famous cycling race, supposed to end on Sunday on the Promenade des Anglais in a city which will experience a third weekend of confinement.

After having closed the beaches and the sidewalk bordering the seaside in Nice the first two weekends of confinement, Christian Estrosi wants this time to open the Promenade des Anglais to pedestrians and cyclists and asks the prefect to extend from one to three hours outing possibilities for physical activities.

"For more consistency, I also request the cancellation of the arrival of Paris-Nice as scheduled," he wrote in a press release Wednesday evening.

The "race in the sun", which started on Sunday in the Yvelines, is due to end on Sunday for an eighth stage which should start and arrive on the Promenade des Anglais.

The Slovenian Primoz Roglic won the 4th stage of the race on Wednesday on the heights of Chiroubles (Rhône), thus taking control of the competition.
