HV71 had the knife to the throat when it was time for the third semifinal in the best of five against Brynäs.

The Gävle team had won the first two meetings and another victory would mean that Brynäs could advance to the Swedish Championship final.

After a goalless first period, Brynäs came out strong in the second and went up to an early 2-0 lead.

Lara Stalder scored her first goal in the playoffs before Josefin Bouveng filled in a couple of minutes later.

Two two-goal shooters

The same numbers would play out in the third period.

Bouveng became a two-goal scorer before Lara Stalder fixed the final score to 4-0 after HV71 took out the goalkeeper early and bet everything on one card.

- The result reflects the match picture.

The first and second period are our two best this season, says Brynäs head coach Henrik Glaas to SVT Sport and develops:

- We have had problems earlier in the first period with ending up at a disadvantage.

The great thing is that the group is completely different now.

They have come together in a very good way and we hardly need to talk in the locker room during the break, but they talk themselves.

Players who earlier in the season barely said a word step forward and have opinions and thoughts, so it feels like the group is really pushing themselves when we have come this far.

The Jönköping team's season is thus over, while a Swedish Championship final series awaits Brynäs against either the big favorite Luleå or the challenger Djurgården.
