Benzema saves the Real from a loss in the Madrid derby

French star Karim Benzema saved his team, Real Madrid, from a loss in Derby, the Spanish capital, after he led the royal team to a fought draw with his host Atletico Madrid 1/1 today, Sunday, in the top matches of the twenty-sixth stage of the competition.

The draw deprived Atlético from flying at the top of the competition, as it now has 59 points, three points ahead of Barcelona's closest chasers, (the biggest beneficiary of that result), knowing that Atletico still has a postponed match, while Real remains in third place with 54 points .

Atletico scored through Uruguayan star Luis Suarez in the 15th minute, to raise his goal tally in the competition to 17 goals in second place in the league's top scorer ranking, two goals behind Argentine star Lionel Messi, captain of Barcelona.

And while everyone prepared for the end of the match with Atletico's victory, Benzema scored the precious equalizer for Real in the 88th minute, leading the royal team to continue the title struggle, which was crowned last season.
