Malmö FF were big favorites in their group in the Swedish Cup, but the Swedish champion stpd for a total failure.
In the first round they lost to Västerås and in the second they lost to Gais.
A match that MFF had to win to advance from the group stage.
In order not to end up last in the group, they chased three important points against Halmstad.
The first situation for the home team came after only two minutes.
Felix Beijmo found an independent Ola Toivon in front of goal, but today's captain shot high and over.
It took 33 minutes before it came loose for Malmö.
Then Halmstad would answer and equalize to 1-1.
But in the second half Toivonen would get the chance again, and in the 51st minute he managed to net after an input by Marcus Antonsson.
The match ended 4-1, and the champion team finished third in the group.
In Malmö's group, Västerås won 3-0 over Gais and thus went on to the quarterfinals.
Trelleborg beat two Allsvenskan teams
Trelleborg, Örebro and Sirius also fought for a quarter-final place in the Swedish Cup.
Both Sirius and Örebro had to win to move on, but for that to be possible, Trelleborg had to lose their match against IF Lödde.
But the Allsvenskan teams played a draw after great drama where Sirius had the match right into the final minutes.
In the 92nd minute, however, Örebro equalized and the match ended 2-2, which was not enough all the way when Trelleborg also won 3-1 against Lödde.
