Ibrahimovic is close to returning to the Swedish national team

Today, Saturday, press reports in Sweden revealed that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is about to return to the Swedish soccer team.

The Swedish sports portal Football Direct SA stated that the Swedish coach, Janet Andersen, is expected to summon Ibrahimovic, 39, to participate with his country in the qualifying matches for the 2022 World Cup.

Anderson is expected to announce the squad on the 16th of March.

Anderson met the international veteran (who scored 116 games, scoring 62 goals) last November.

Ibrahimovic had said that he longed to play for his country, after he announced his retirement from international football after the European Nations Cup in 2016.

For his part, a spokesman for the Swedish Football Association confirmed that everything Andersen said after the meeting was correct, and the spokesman told Deutsche Presse-Agentur: "It was a good conversation and the dialogue with Zlatan is still in progress."

According to Al-Bawaba, it is believed that Ibrahimovic got the green light to return to his country's national team, and it is believed that the Swedish Federation contacted the Italian club AC Milan, which Ibrahimovic plays in its ranks, according to a source that the portal did not disclose.

The Swedish national team will receive its Georgian counterpart at home on the twenty-fifth of this month, and three days later, it will head to Kosovo to face its national team.
