Duplantis was high above the bar when he soared in the air at the 5.60 jump for his first appearance in the arena where he set his first world record with 6.17 last winter.

- He is security himself.

It was a pure and simple safety jump, says SVT Sports expert Alhaji Jeng.

Duplantis was the only one who waited until 5.60 to enter the qualifiers.

The qualifying height was set at 5.70.

Ten jumpers managed 5.60 and the organizer was careful to keep the final field down to eight jumpers and let the qualifiers go up to just 5.70.

Duplantis refrained from jumping at 5.70 well aware that 5.60 in the first would be enough for a final.
