According to Expressen, IFK Gothenburg must orally agree with the 33-year-old Slovak who last season was a club friend with Sam Larsson and Marcus Danielson in Dalian Professional in the Chinese league.

Hamsik is said to have broken his contract with Dalian and the idea was to sign a short-term contract with Slovan Bratislava, the club he broke through in. The deal is said to have run aground due to the Slovak transfer window being closed.

"Most realistic that he ends up in Sweden"

"If Hamsik's transfer to Slovan cannot be completed, it is most realistic that he ends up in Sweden, where the transfer window is still open," writes the newspaper Novy Cas with reference to Hamsik's agent Karol Kisel.

Due to the corona restrictions, Hamsik wants to find a club to play in Europe before the European Championship finals and participate in Slovakia's preparations.

In the European Championships, Slovakia will meet Sweden, among others - on June 18 in Dublin.

Will be traveling to Gothenburg soon

According to Expressen, Hamsik and his representatives must have negotiated with IFK Gothenburg for a couple of days.

The newspaper states that Hamsik will soon travel to Gothenburg to be examined by a doctor and sign a contract.

If the transfer goes to lock, Hamsik will be the most deserving player in the Allsvenskan.

Hamsik was for many years one of Serie A's biggest stars.

He was team captain in Naples and before that played in Brescia.

He is listed for 408 matches in Serie A for Napoli and scored 100 goals.

He has played 126 international matches for Slovakia and scored 26 national team goals.
