League operations in Europe will be suspended on March 22nd.

In qualifying for the World Cup, the national teams will fight for tickets for the tournament in Qatar next year.

A welcome break for the clubs to take a deep breath.

At least for those who don't play too many national players.

One such club is Liverpool FC, whose professionals are almost exclusively national players.

In times of the Corona crisis, the international matches are particularly controversial.

Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp has now dared to push forward - he wants to deny his national players participation in the upcoming internationals if the professionals would then have to be quarantined.

"That is simply not possible," said Klopp.

"I think all clubs agree that we cannot let the players play for their country and then solve the problem by quarantining them in a hotel for ten days."

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, there are currently severe restrictions in Great Britain for return travelers.

So far there are no special regulations for footballers.

That's why some games in the Champions League had been moved to a neutral location.

Klopp said Liverpool FC will wait until shortly before the start of the international break on March 22, before the club will make a final decision.

"The clubs pay the players"

The decision could affect the Brazilians Alisson, Roberto Firmino and Fabinho as well as the Portuguese Diogo Jota.

Klopp campaigned for the understanding of the national associations.

"I understand the needs of the various football associations, but you can't satisfy everyone at this time," said the 53-year-old.

"And we have to accept that the players are paid by the clubs, which means that we also have to be the first priority."

At the same time, the Liverpool coach indicated a connection between international trips in the past and the increase in new corona infections in the area around the club.

"In the last few months, whenever someone had to leave the bladder, there have been more cases after the international break than before," said Klopp.
