Corona infection spreads in the World Cup resort of Oberstdorf.

The Italian squad leaves the World Cup after infection was discovered among the leaders and in the technical team - but on the other hand, none of the riders have been infected so far.

On Wednesday, the news also came that Norwegian ski jumper Halvor Egner Granerud is infected with corona.

The Swedish squad does not feel any major concerns at the moment.

- Now it is important that everyone takes care of themselves incredibly carefully, and that the organizer reminds people that it is all focus on health now.

But everything has happened so incredibly well so far.

The German structure is sickly impressive, and the spread of infection feels illogical considering how good the safety is, says Swedish skier Björn Sandström.

No further restrictions

Fi's length manager Pierre Mignerey says the following about the situation surrounding the Italian decision.

- We received the information this morning that the Italian squad has covid infection and is leaving the World Cup.

I think it is responsible of them that they make those decisions in these circumstances, if there is concern about spreading the infection further, he says to SVT Sport.

No major reactions have come from the other nations.

- I have talked to some of the other coaches, but everyone is preparing in their own way and we had no major discussions about this, Mignerey continues.

He also announces that there will be no further action on the restrictions in the World Cup bubble in Oberstdorf.

- To be honest, I do not think we will not take any further action.

We have been working on this all season, and have already done everything we can, says Pierre Mignerey.

The Italian national team management held a press conference after their decision and the reactions in the squad were gloomy.

- They are very sad but in this case the health must come first, says Andrea Facchinetti, press officer for the Italian squad.
