"FIFA" proposes to rally around South Africa, Mozibi to head the "CAF"

Sources close to the candidates for the presidency of the Confederation of Confederation of African Football (CAF) said that the International Federation of FIFA (FIFA) proposed to three candidates an agreement on the fourth South African candidate, Patrice Mutsibi, 11 days before the elections scheduled in the Moroccan capital, Rabat.

According to these sources, Senegalese Augustin Senghor and Mauritanian Ahmed Ould Yahya are ready to agree to the proposal of the International Federation, noting that if they withdraw on the 12th of March to leave the field for the South African billionaire who enjoys the support of the President of the Swiss FIFA, Jani Infantino, they will be the first and second vice-president.

She added that the position of advisor to the president will be proposed to the fourth candidate, Ivory Coast, Jacques Anoma.

In a call with Agence France-Presse, FIFA did not respond at noon, Monday.

"The idea of FIFA is to gather the four candidates under the auspices of Morocco, in order to agree on a joint program, and to appoint one candidate among them," explained an advisor to one of the candidates.

He added, "Mozebi enjoys an advantage from the International Federation, which wants a new person, not involved in the old administration, to attract new sponsors and investors and give a better picture to CAF after all that has happened," referring to the accusation of the president of the outgoing continental federation, Malagasy Ahmed Ahmed, in corruption scandals and his suspension from FIFA Five Years in november.

The decision was not taken whether or not to maintain the nomination, because every candidate returned to his country to discuss the matter with the authorities.

The candidates will meet next weekend in the Mauritanian capital Nouakchott on the sidelines of the final match of the African Youth Cup (U-20), to make a decision.

If Senghor and Yehia are on the verge of surrendering, according to confirmed sources, Anoma will likely remain Mozebe's only competitor.

At that time, the elections will take a new turn, from a four-way competition to a two-way contest between FIFA's favorite candidate, Motseby, and Anuma, the continental federation’s candidate, who is jealous of his independence.
