Despite a crash and pole vault, Frida Karlsson managed to take silver in the skiathlon at the same time as Ebba Andersson won the bronze despite trouble at the ski change.

Therese Johaug won by 30 seconds, but the fact that the Swedish riders take medals despite the problems is impressive.

- There are two medals without them making perfect races.

It is a very good start in terms of form for the Swedish riders, says SVT's expert Mathias Fredriksson.

He also believes that today's results give a hint as to who it will be that will be most difficult to beat this championship.

- In terms of strength, there are three girls who stand out today.

Therese Johaug, Frida Karlsson and Ebba Andersson feel a bit like a class of their own today.

I think it will be very much about them in the future, says Fredriksson

Charlotte Kalla surprised

But it was not just Karlsson and Andersson who impressed.

Charlotte Kalla drove in as fifth, despite the tough charge.

- She really surprised.

She rode better than I thought she would.

Now she is given in a relay, says Mathias Fredriksson.

Johanna Ojala agrees.

- For the Swedish part, it was very nice to see her do this.

Many were probably happy.
