Conchita Martínez, former tennis player and current coach of Garbiñe Muguruza, has tested positive for coronavirus upon arrival in Qatar and is isolated in Doha, while the Hispanic-Venezuelan continues to prepare to play the WTA 500 tournament next week.
"Unfortunately, I have tested positive for coronavirus. I traveled with a negative PCR on Wednesday from Spain but in the test that I have done in Doha it has been positive," Conchita herself revealed on her Twitter account, where she thanks the words of support received .
After the diagnosis, she was transferred from the official hotel of the tournament to another medical complex, "where I am in quarantine and observation," says Conchita, who will continue "to develop my functions by videoconference and permanently connected to direct Garbiñe."
"I am fine, with mild symptoms, and in a couple of days they will repeat the test," adds Conchita Martínez, who is hopeful and wishes that she can continue the tour of the Middle East soon.
Meanwhile, Garbiñe wished Conchita a speedy recovery and showed on social networks a fragment of her practice on the track with her coach watching from her mobile.
