The relegation of FC Schalke 04 is taking shape.

The Royal Blues lost 1: 5 (1: 3) at VfB Stuttgart and are still behind at the bottom of the table with nine points after 23 games.

The 16th defeat of the season was sealed after just over half an hour.

A brace from Stuttgart's Wataru Endo (10th, 26th) and the eleventh goal of the season by Sasa Kalajdzic (34th) gave VfB a 3-0 lead.

Schalke only managed to make it 1: 3 through Sead Kolasinac (40th).

Nabil Bentaleb missed a penalty miserably (72nd).

FC Bayern also achieved a safe victory.

Munich also won 5: 1 (2: 0) against 1. FC Köln.

Robert Lewandowski scored his goals for the season 27 and 28 and after 23 games is already three goals above the mark from Gerd Müller's record season.

The pursuers remain front runner Munich but on the heels.

After a strong second half, BVB won 3-0 (0-0) against Arminia Bielefeld.

Wolfsburg defeated Hertha BSC 2-0 (1-0) thanks to an own goal from Berlin's Lukas Klünter.

On Friday Werder Bremen prevailed 2-1 against Eintracht Frankfurt.

On Saturday evening (6.30 p.m. / live on Sky) Borussia Mönchengladbach will play at RB Leipzig.

Three games complete the matchday on Sunday: Union Berlin meets Hoffenheim, Mainz wants to continue its upward trend against Augsburg, and Leverkusen will face Freiburg.
