In March last year, national team star Mikaela Mässig was infected with covid-19.

She developed two corona symptoms - she lost odor and she lost taste.

Now, eleven months later, the 26-year-old still has no sense of smell or taste.

"I'm terrified"

- I am terrified that it will remain like this.

Imagine never being able to feel taste and smell again?

she says to GP.

Brass is grateful that she was not hit harder by the virus - but not feeling the smell and taste has consumed her.

- It may not be as dangerous as it sounds, but it consumes the forces.

I think it's harder to not have the smell than the taste.

I get to ask everyone around "How do I smell?", "Do I smell sweat?", "How does this shirt smell?".

And I miss being able to smell the food and perfume.

"Almost ironic"

Brass had a tough professional time in Germany.

And last year she left the Thuringian HC for games in Baia Mare in Russia.

But in August last year, the 26-year-old suffered a cruciate ligament injury.

- It was almost ironic when I pulled the cruciate ligament.

I thought, "Of course I will."

Because it was a fucking piss year.
