Oliver Solberg started as the tenth car on SS1 Sarriojärvi 1 when Arctic Rally Finland started on Friday afternoon.

The excitement was palpable inside Solberg's tent at the service site in Rovaniemi, where father Petter and mother Pernilla anxiously followed their son's progress via computer, mobile and TV screens.

They were finally able to breathe a sigh of relief when Solberg and temporary map reader Seb Marshall finished on the stretch with a time of 16.28.9 minutes.

Lost ten seconds

Oliver Solberg was not entirely happy with his effort.

- It is very difficult and my front tires are out.

Not so good, but very enjoyable nonetheless.

I had to stop and back off and lost about ten seconds.

But okay, I'm learning, says Solberg in SVT's live broadcast.

Hyundai driver Ott Tänak took command in the rally and won the distance 3.6 seconds ahead of the Irishman Craig Breen, Hyundai, and 10.6 seconds ahead of the Finn Kalle Rovanperä, Toyota.
