Annika Sörenstam received scathing criticism for receiving the President's Medal of Freedom from Donald Trump the day after the storming of the Capitol.

Now the pictures from the medal ceremony in the White House on January 7 have been wired out.

It is the program "In depth with Graham Bensinger" that has published the pictures and a longer interview.

There you see how Sörenstam pays tribute to Trump.

- I want to thank you for everything you have done for our country, she says and applauds together with other people in the White House.

- Especially for the work you have done during the corona crisis.

I know it has been tough and challenging, says Sörenstam.

Then she thanked for the medal of freedom.

The ceremony took place the day after the storming of the Capitol.

As I said, she received a lot of criticism.

She spoke about the Capitol in mid-January.

- I share the sadness and fear that everyone feels after what happened at the Capitol.

It was a dark day in US history, she said then.

Today, Sörenstam makes a comeback on the LPGA tour after 13 years.

She plays at home on Lake Nona, Florida.
