According to a questionnaire conducted by the Japan Sports Agency on the Internet for 20,000 people, the percentage of adults who exercise more than one day a week is about 60%, against the background of increasing health consciousness due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection. It increased from the previous year.

The Japan Sports Agency conducts a survey using the Internet every year in order to grasp the implementation status of the exercise, and this year we received responses from 20,000 men and women in their teens to 70s last November.

According to this, the percentage of adults who exercise more than one day a week was 59.9%, an increase of 6.3 points from the previous year.

When asked why they exercised more frequently,

▽ "changes in daily life due to measures against the new coronavirus" was the most common at 36.4%, followed by "because I was no longer busy with work" at 27%. This seems to be due to the fact that the increase in working from home has made it possible to take more time to exercise and the growing health consciousness.

The basic plan compiled by the Japan Sports Agency has set a goal of raising the percentage of this exercise to 65% by next year and the third year of Reiwa.

Koji Murofushi, Secretary of the Japan Sports Agency, said, "With the importance of sports and heightened health consciousness due to the corona sickness, there is a tendency for women to exercise in more familiar places such as doing yoga indoors. This is transient. Instead, I would like to make efforts to create an environment where more people can enjoy sports. "
