Trainer Hans de Koning will leave VVV-Venlo at the end of this season.

He is looking for a new challenge.

VVV is nine points above the relegation line in fourteenth place and, on the basis of top scorer Giorgos Giakoumakis, has reached the semi-finals of the TOTO KNVB Cup, in which the Venlo team will play against Vitesse on 2 March.

"In the past period I have worked with great pleasure at VVV-Venlo and, together with staff and players, achieved a number of great results that we can be proud of", says De Koning on the VVV website.

"The club and the atmosphere that prevails there, it really is a warm nest. But sometimes you have to make the choice to take a new step and to be able to develop further on a personal level. And I have my own ambitions."

It is still unknown where these ambitions lie exactly.

"I'm going to try to realize it in another nice challenge", the sixty-year-old coach says alone.

"But the club and supporters do not have to worry: I have all the energy and focus on bringing this special season to a successful end."
