Silvester van der Water completed his long-awaited switch from Heracles Almelo to Orlando City on Tuesday evening.

The 24-year-old attacker has signed a contract with the American club for three seasons.

His engagement in Almelo expired next summer.

In September last year, the transfer from Van der Water to Orlando City did not take place yet.

That caused quite a bit of dissatisfaction with the former player of Almere City FC.

At the time, he signed off by WhatsApp with trainer Frank Wormuth for the competition match against Willem II.

Van der Water received the maximum fine from the club management.

He apologized after which he was welcome back into the selection.

At the end of last week, Heracles gave the right winger permission to travel to Florida and complete his transfer.

Van der Water therefore missed the game with RKC Waalijk last weekend (3-0 defeat).

In Orlando, Van der Water will include Alexandre Pato and Nani as teammates.

The Brazilian previously played for AC Milan and the Portuguese played for Manchester United.

Van der Water thanks Heracles for an instructive period

Van der Water scored ten goals for Heracles in 54 Eredivisie game.

He looks back on a good time in Almelo.

"I have learned a lot at this club. I have become stronger both physically and mentally. I am therefore happy that Heracles Almelo has given me the opportunity to develop further here."

Technical director Tim Gilissen agrees that Van der Water has become a better player in Almelo and has thus earned his transfer.

"He came from a lower level and logically needed some time in the beginning."

"After that he has shown to be of value to Heracles Almelo with, among other things, many goals and assists. He has thus played himself in the spotlight of other clubs."
