The Albassin Phoenix team withdraws from the Emirates Tour, in order to preserve the "medical bubble"

The Albassin Phoenix team withdrew from the Emirates International Cycling Tour after coordination with the organizers and rulers of the tour, according to the official account of the Abu Dhabi Media Office on "Twitter".

The Abu Dhabi Media Office indicated that the withdrawal of the Belgian team from the circumnavigation came in order to tighten the "medical bubble" of the race after discovering that a member of the team was infected with the Covid-19 virus during one of the periodic checks on Sunday night.

He explained: "The Emirates Tour organizers and health authorities in the country followed the highest safety standards, preventive measures and precautionary measures in accordance with a tight health protocol before and during the start of the event, including conducting periodic checks for the participating riders and employees, with the aim of ensuring the safety and health of everyone."

The rider of the Basin Phoenix team, Van der Boyle, won the first place in the opening of the circumnavigation yesterday, after the end of the first stage that took place between the city of Ruwais and the coastal port in Abu Dhabi.
