44th President's Cup ... Important information for the public

The two semi-final matches of the President's Cup will be held on Monday evening, as Shabab Al-Ahly will meet Bani Yas at 17:30 at Sharjah Club Stadium, while Rashid Stadium in Shabab Al-Ahly Club in Dubai will host the Sharjah-Al-Nasr match at 20:30.

The current championship is the 44th edition, as the first version was launched in the 74-75 season and was won by Shabab Al-Ahly, and the championship was not completed in three seasons: 1975-1976, 1977-1978 and 2019-2020.

The two winning teams in the two matches today will qualify directly for the final match.

According to the text of Article 24 of the tournament regulation for the 2020-2021 sports season, when the original match time ends in a draw, the two teams are given thirty minutes equally over two equal halves, and in the event of a tie, the penalty shoot-out rule applies and this rule is applied in the rounds (16, 8 and 4). The final match will be decided in the event of the end of the original time in a draw by direct penalty shoot-out without resorting to overtime.

The President's Cup is considered one of the most important football tournaments in the UAE due to the moral value it carries, and through which all teams seek to win their title as a historic achievement.

The Al-Ahly youth team is one of the most prominent clubs winning the title, after it was awarded 9 times in its history, followed by Sharjah 8 times.

Until recently, Sharjah was dubbed the "King of the Cup" being the most victorious in the title, before it was overtaken by Shabab Al-Ahly by breaking the record in winning the championship title.

And if it wins the title of the current version, the Sharjah team will be equal with Shabab Al-Ahly in the number of times they won the championship.

The Baniyas team is looking for the championship title for the second time in its history, after winning it for the first time in the 1991-1992 season. Previously, Al Nasr won the championship title 4 times, the last of which was in 2015.

The match between Sharjah and Al Nasr will be managed by international referee Yahya Al Mulla, while Shabab Al Ahly and Baniyas will be led by referee Hamad Ali Youssef.
