When Sweden faced Turkey almost exactly one year ago, in the same European Championship qualifier, a new audience record was set in the Globe - and it was a Sweden win with 87-80.

A year later, the stands echoed almost empty in Turkey.

And then Sweden lost 80-88.

Jerebko back

Everyone's eyes were on Jonas Jerebko, 33, who returned to play for the national team - after an eight-year hiatus.

Jerebko became the best Swede, with his 21 points in the match.

But that was not enough today.

Had Sweden won away against Turkey, the European Championship ticket in 2022 would have been secured.

Now a must-win match against the Netherlands awaits on Monday.

If the Netherlands wins against Croatia, however, Sweden has no chance of reaching the European Championships.

Sweden's group includes Turkey, Croatia and the Netherlands.

Croatia is already ready for the European Championships and the last two European Championship places will be settled by the remaining countries.
