Gut-Behrami's gold in giant slalom was taken by a two hundredths margin to Mikaela Shiffrin, Switzerland's first victory in giant slalom since winning the Sölden World Cup competition in October 2016. Gut-Behrami's victory earlier in super-G was all the more expected even though it came after a big mistake by Shiffrin who finished third.

Gut-Behrami also has a bronze from the downhill race in Cortina.

While other medalists like to post updates on social media, 29-year-old Gut-Behrami waives the opportunity to communicate with his fans.

The reason for that goes back to the 2018 FIFA World Cup and Brazil's meeting with Switzerland.

The South American football superpower was the big favorite but Switzerland arranged 1-1 in the group stage.

Valon Behrami was the one who had the task of stopping Neymar and he did it well and Neymar got a couple of real bangs - Behrami got a yellow card for his harsh treatment of the superstar.

- Neymar always tries to provoke you, and always falls easily, said the Swiss midfielder Behami according to The Sun and continued:

- I just tried to do my job, and we got a good result.

Married a couple of weeks after the match

Although things went well for Switzerland in that match, Behrami was exposed to a storm of hatred with harassment and death threats on social media, which also spilled over to the then girlfriend Lara Gut.

They married a couple of weeks later.

From the 2019-20 season, she has Gut-Behrami as her full name.

- It was unlikely, what happened after that match.

Both he and I have received thousands of messages from Brazilians.

My brother.

Our families, Gut-Behrami said in an interview with Blick 2018.

It's a decision she does not intend to reconsider.

- I do not define myself with a lot of pictures and posts online but through my life, the star says to several media after the latest World Cup success in Cortina.
