33-year-old Hansen is one of the world's best handball players and has played for the big club PSG since 2012.

But from the summer of 2022, he is back on Danish soil.

He has signed a three-year contract with Danish Aalborg.

- I still have big ambitions and I think I can help the club to take another step up the European ladder, Hansen says in a statement on the club's website.

Double World Cup gold

Hansen, who accounted for seven goals in the World Cup final against Sweden, has several times been named the world's best player and has, among other things, an Olympic gold and two World Cup golds on the merit list.

- This is one of the biggest days in the history of Ålborg handball.

Mikkel is one of the absolute best players in the world, and he has been for many years.

It is a giant scoop for the club, says club director Jan Larsen.
