Borussia Dortmund shoots their way out of the crisis and celebrates an extremely important victory.

BVB wins the first leg of the first leg in the Champions League at FC Sevilla 3-2 (3-1) and has good prospects of reaching the quarter-finals.

Last Monday, BVB made it public that Marco Rose will move to Borussia in the summer and that Edin Terzic will inherit as coach.

This seemed to have spurred the players on.

After poor performance recently, which was linked to a fall to sixth place in the table in the Bundesliga, BVB played particularly well in the first half in Seville.

For Terzic it was the first victory in the first Champions League game.

Although Rose is coming in the summer, the 38-year-old Dortmund will stay.

“Edin will stay with us on the coaching team in the coming season and go back to his old role as assistant coach.

We dealt with this very openly and transparently, ”said BVB sports director Michael Zorc at DAZN.

The game started badly for BVB, Sevilla took the lead with the first shot on goal.

Suso danced out Jadon Sancho with a simple body illusion and withdrew from 20 meters.

Mats Hummels faked the ball untenable for Marwin Hitz - the 1-0 for the Spaniards after seven minutes.

The early goal did not shock BVB.

Dortmund played courageously forward and rewarded themselves in the 20th minute: Erling Haaland spared the ball perfectly in Seville's half and passed it on Mo Dahoud.

The midfielder flicked the ball dreamily from 22 meters into the corner to equalize.

Haaland scores a brace before the break

Only six minutes later, BVB added.

Haaland played a one-two with Sancho in the penalty area and then emerged free in front of Sevilla's goal.

The striker stayed cool and pushed the ball into the net to make it 2-1.

It was the 17th goal in the 13th Champions League game for the Norwegian.

Before the break, he followed up with his 18th.

The striker completed a counterattack and scored after a pass from Marco Reus to 3-1 (43rd).

After the break, BVB took the pace out of the game and managed the lead cleverly.

Unlike the last time in the Bundesliga, the defense was secure until the final phase and barely allowed the hosts to chances.

Only a free kick by Oscar, which landed on the post, was dangerous (74th).

In the final phase, BVB lacked the strength to play off the counter opportunities perfectly and to ensure an even better starting position for the second leg.

This retaliated when Luuk de Jong was on the spot after a free-kick flank and reduced it to 2: 3 (84th).

But even with the 3-2 in the back, the quarter-finals of the Champions League are within reach for Borussia.
