The "Candidate Review Committee" of the Tokyo Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, which selects candidates to replace Chairman Mori, has unified the candidates for the new chairman into Seiko Hashimoto, the Minister in charge of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The "Candidate Review Committee" will hold a third meeting today, and if Minister Hashimoto indicates his intention to accept the request for appointment, the Organizing Committee will hold a board meeting to elect him as the new chairman. The policy is to hurry the necessary procedures.

Mr. Mori, Chairman of the Games Organizing Committee, has expressed his intention to resign on the 12th of this month, taking responsibility for his disdain for women and his own remarks.



The Organizing Committee has set up a "Candidate Review Committee" consisting of eight members, mainly athletes, in order to ensure transparency and select a successor chairman, and has been promoting the selection of successor chairman candidates.



At the private meeting on the 17th, discussions were held with specific names of the candidates, and as a result, the candidates for the new chairman were unified into the Minister in charge of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Hashimoto.



The "Candidate Review Committee" will hold a third meeting on the 18th to proceed with discussions on the election of a new chairman.



If Minister Hashimoto indicates his intention to accept the request for appointment, the Organizing Committee will hold a board meeting on the 18th to elect him as the new chairman, and will hurry up the necessary procedures.
