Scott Miller once knew how to swim very quickly.

At the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996, the Australian won silver in the 100 meter butterfly and bronze in the individual relay.

Today Miller is 45 years old and is very good at hiding things.

At least the former swimmer was convinced of this until the police stood in his apartment and took a closer look.

There the authorities made a drug discovery worth millions.

As the news agency AAP and numerous Australian media unanimously report, Miller was arrested in connection with a major drug offense.

The police said they had seized methamphetamine worth two million Australian dollars (the equivalent of around 1.3 million euros) in a raid in Sydney.

The drug had been carefully hidden.

A spokesman for the police in the state of New South Wales confirmed that half a kilo of methamphetamine had been found in eight candles.

"They looked like normal candles in every way, but they weren't smelled, but with death and misery," said the officer.

The synthetically produced substance is quickly addictive and is considered to be particularly destructive compared to other drugs.

In addition to ex-swimmer Scott, a second man was arrested who, according to police, is a 47-year-old.

Both are accused of having delivered large amounts of the drug, also known as ice or crystal meth.

The TV broadcaster ABC also reported that a vehicle that was used to transport the drugs had also been confiscated.

Miller is credited with a leading role in the drug ring by the police, the reports said.
