Simon Pettersson's throw 66.32 moves him up in the ranking in discus.

Admittedly, not much discus is thrown indoors, but that does not make the performance worse than Vésteinn Hafsteinsson, coach of Simon Pettersson.

- To be a discus indoors in the winter, this is a world result.

Should he get to this outdoors in the summer, it is between 68-69 meters, and then it starts to look like something, Hafsteinsson tells SVT Sport.

Throws technically better

The reason why Pettersson succeeded so early in the season is attributed by Hafsteinsson to the summer and autumn training.

- I am very pleased with Simon's development throughout the winter.

He is also throwing technically better now and developed incredibly much last summer.

He has had his best autumn and everything has gone incredibly well, he says.

"A world result"

The throw is one of the longest ever indoors and it is only 58 centimeters behind Daniel Ståhl's record throw from 2017 at 66.90.

- It is a world result so I am very happy.

Simon was also very happy after this.

He did not get to a giant hit last week (editor's note Simon threw 64.37 during a competition in Växjö) but now came the hit.
