Freezing Zamalek funds in banks for debt accumulation

The Ministry of Social Solidarity in Egypt froze the Zamalek Club account in Banque Misr, due to the accumulation of debts on it and the failure to pay the amount of 209 million pounds for the insurance dues imposed on the club's employees during the previous council’s era.

Media journalist Omar Rabi` Yassin said through his program on Al-Nahar channel, that there are efforts being made by the temporary committee that runs the Zamalek club to solve this problem with the Ministry of Social Solidarity, because of which the player contracts advance was stopped for the current season.

He added, "The players went to pay their dues at the beginning of the season, and found that the club's money was withheld by the Ministry of Social Solidarity, but efforts are currently being made to solve this crisis by paying the club's amount due to the Ministry of Social Solidarity."

On the other hand, Omar Rabi` Yassin revealed that the Egyptian prosecution is currently conducting extensive investigations regarding the contract of the Tunisian player, Ferjani Sassi, for breaches of the contract by the previous council, which was suspended by a decision of the Minister of Youth and Sports, due to financial irregularities.

He clarified that: "The prosecution may summon the player at any time to hear his testimony regarding the terms of the contract, and whether or not they were committed to implementation by the previous council."

It is noteworthy that Ferjani Sassi complained earlier that he did not receive a boat amount of 750 thousand euros for last season, which prompted the temporary committee to pay this amount after deducting the tax rate to miss the opportunity for the player not to terminate his contract with the club for this reason.
