She became team captain in the national team after the 2012 Olympics, but in recent years she has been injured and missed the European Championships in Denmark in November.

Now Sabina Jacobsen announces that she will leave the national team.

- The last two years have been very hateful and I had had a great summer when it was small in the knee in Nyköping, which then led to surgery.

I came back in January last year, but then came the corona and when I then came back to Russia this summer, my knees ached for much of the autumn, she says in a press release.

"Takes many memories with me"

The last international match was in June 2019 when the World Cup ticket was secured.

In addition to the silver medal in the European Championships in 2010 and the bronze in 2014, she was named player of the year in Swedish handball in 2013 and has played ten championships for Sweden, divided into one Olympics, four World Cups and five European Championships.

- I am extremely happy to have experienced so much in the national team.

It is really rare to represent Sweden and I have done so with pride.

Sweden and Swedes have an extremely good reputation around the world, not just in handball.

There are many memories I take with me and much that I will miss.

The medals are of course something that stands out, I feel proud to have been involved when the only two medals so far have been taken, says Jacobsen.
