FC Bayern received a sad message on Thursday morning.

Thomas Müller is said to have been infected with the corona virus.

The 31-year-old attacking player from Munich tested positive for the virus.

Sky reports first.

According to "Bild" he was tested negative before the semi-finals on Monday against Al-Ahly (2-0).

The positive test followed on Wednesday.

Two more tests followed, one negative, the third positive again.

As a result, Fifa banned him for the final this Thursday (7 p.m., free in the live stream on bild.de) against the Mexican club UANL Tigres.

Bayern have been in Doha (Qatar) since Saturday.

Upon arrival, all professionals were tested negative.

Leon Goretzka and Javi Martinez stayed in Munich because they had previously been infected with the virus.

Where was Müller infected?

Now Müller should also be affected - despite the strictest security measures.

The team and coaching staff were tested at the airport after their arrival and from there they were brought directly to the “Al Messila” team hotel in their own buses.

You are only allowed to leave the five-star resort for training and games.

The board of directors and employees are staying in a different hotel.

Where and how Müller could have been infected is completely unclear, there is no other positive case in the Munich camp.

FC Bayern wants to complete its trophy collection at the Club World Cup by winning the title, Müller was a central part of the mission as a preparer and goalscorer.

In the final against outsider Tigres, coach Hansi Flick's Munich team could win the sixth cup within a year.

So far, only FC Barcelona has managed that in 2009. In 2013, the German record champions celebrated victory at the Club World Cup as Champions League winner, but did not win six titles because they won the German Supercup final 2: 4 lost against Borussia Dortmund.
